VEGAn-TAB GingerEdition update
January 29, 2011 25 CommentsInitial progress was slow but development is starting to ramp up. I have got our familiar status bar buttons functioning properly in Gingerbread. The Team at CyanogenMod have been cranking out some excellent code editions including the newly integrated Theming Engine which will make theming and theme changing a breeze and will no longer need flashing…. just install the theme like you would an app and select the new theme! I am working towards integrating this into our build as well allowing hopefully theming of the statusbar buttons and other tablet specific aspects. Here is a quick snapshot of the status buttons…. keep in mind the icons and statusbar size is all just testing versions not at all production/release versions! Enjoy and we will keep plugging away!

Thanks a lot GoJimi. I cannot wait…..
Wow, this is the test build I’ve been waiting for.
The one with the status bar buttons..
I patienly wait to see a beta 2 either here, XDA or CMF.
Is there a chance we can get this latest build for download?
Unfortunately guys at the moment CM7/VEGAn-TAB Gingerbread is too unpolished to release a build based off of it yet…. but we are working on it…. any builds you are seeing are done by people not involved in the project and are a bit misleading. We are working to fix the outstanding major bugs. Our major hang up will be nvidia and them releasing updated gingerbread libraries.
Don’t get me wrong our test builds do work…. but they are not yet an Improvement on our current Froyo based build Beta 5.1 and in some cases is lacking in comparison at the moment. We don’t want to give you something just for the sake of giving you something!
Hang in THERE!
I sincerely appreciate the response,
Thank you GJ!
Seconded! I would like to get my hands on this! My Vegan 5.1 is begging for a refresh as it grows more unstable, and if I’m going to start flashing roms again I would love to just step to gingerbread..
Beta 5.1 has been great for me so far and very stable as I’m not one to go crazy installing apps and junk just for the sake of installing a bunch of stuff.
I am patiently waiting for your next official release as I am confident it will be well worth the wait. Thank you for your efforts.
I too would like to thank you. Currently using VegaN 5.1 which I find very stable
Your work is always of high quality and I will wait because I know it worth the wait. I have a request, can you add a AC3 soundtrack support in your new build’s video player .video with that kind of soundtrack has no sound when I play it on my tab. Are there any news about honeycomb on 1024*600 Res
? Will it come to our tab? Thank you again.
Good question,
I can only guess the Motorola XOOM will be the first device out with Honeycomb and I bet the ROM will be kitchen’d in no time flat!
“newly integrated Theming Engine which will make theming and theme changing a breeze”
I like the sound of this…
Great work gojimi
Im really looking forward to this update! keep up the good work guys!
Great! Love the stable, strong platform here and many thanks for all of your hard work on this ROM.
I would love to see a full Gingerbread Port over to the gTablet. Do you know when it may be out (at least in Alpha)?
Have you also given any thought to a full honeycomb build? That would steal some of the fire from the Nook Color.
Does the Gingerbread GTalk app support video chat?
That would be great if it did.
Sorry – no video support on the packaged version of Gtalk. Reading other forums it would appear that the type of video acceleration used by the new version of Video Gtalk is not supported by the G-Tablet hardware
Actually with the Motorola Xoom release just around the corner I think you are wasting your time on Gingerbread. Since the Xoom is also runing the Tegra 2 hardware I think it would be fairly easy to get Android 3.0 running on the G Tablet, Nvidia must already have drivers for 3.0 if it is working on the Xoom. I think a stock 3.0 on the G Tablet would rock. After all that 3.0 is specifically designed for tablets.
I’m hoping to see this sometime soon. I’ve been searching but haven’t found anything yet from anyone posted that is even working on it. If anyone does find something please let us all know.
Development is still progressing nicely on this…. I have released several experimental versions over the past month on the Experimentals page available above…. These builds are not considered fully functional yet so be careful…. though many people find them already to be worthy of daily driver status I am waiting on a few things to be ironed out before I start labeling them BETA or RC.
Using Vegan 5.1 beta on my g-tab and love it. The only problem I have is that my power down option screen only shows about 1mm of the power off option. Is there any way for me to restore the full image.
Thanks, DMW
Im currently using the latest experimental gingerbread build and I gotta say I love it. Im trying to find a way to make monster madness run better. It ran fine for about 20 mins and has been choppy since. I tried out the adam ui and didnt care for it. Its nice but not for me. I went from tnt lite to the experimental gingerbread and thats where im staying unless it stops working.
Great work. I was and am very impressed.
I’ve tried nearly all of the various builds for the G Tablet, from TNT to Adam. VEGAn-Tab seems to be the most stable. I am very pleased that gingerbread integrates ADW Launcher. Great Job! Thank you for keeping our tablets going.
One question is it possible to load the market onto the tablet? What steps would I take to do so? Thanks!
I found the answer over at XDA-Developers: YOU MUST INSTALL THE LATEST GAPPS from here: http://goo-inside.me/gapps/latest/7/universal/
Thanks again! Great Build!
GB experimental build is excellent. Thanks for you all.
