VEGAn-TAB started out as a PORT of the ADVENT VEGA Tablets ROM. After getting it mostly running on my tablet and handing it two Roebeet and Rothnic (who were already working on ROMS of their own) we decided as a group to TEAM together and make the VEGAn-TAB rom a “super” ROM for the G-Tablet.
It has now come so far that it barely resembles the Vega Rom it came from and can now hardly even be called a PORT. With each BETA the team gets closer and closer to a FINAL Release!

BETA 3 is fantastic! The GTab is much, much faster now.
One small “bug” I noted is on holding the power button to power off, the dialog that comes up only has have of the bottom selection visible (“Power OFF”) but it is still selectable.

Does the VeganROM support bluetooth tethering[DUN]?
Basically i was to pair my Blackberry as a bluetooth modem and use DUN.
Love the 5.1.1 Rom on my Zpad but can’t find any patches to get my 3g working again… are you going to add 3g functions as I can’t stand the thought of going back to a chinese rom. HAPPY TO DONATE IF YOU DO!

Just got Viewsonic g tablet and wonder if 5.1.1 Rom will allow me to install any chinese writing apps? I’m using tnt lite v4.32 right now and had no success doing so. Hope I’ll get better luck with you guys….yes??

I was wondering where I could find a step-by-step process to installing one of these ROMs. I just recently got my G Tablet and want to install a ROM, or whatever it is that you do, but haven’t the sligthest clue as to how.
Is it as simple as downloading the .zip file? What do I do after that?

This is the best ROM out for the Viewsonic GTABLET. It really is a breath of fresh air and shows the true performance of the device. It took me a couple of retrys to install the VEGAn-Tab v7 rc1 so i thought i would share the steps:
1.)Install clockwork mod v8 by bekit (ClockworkMod_Gtab_v08.zip)
2.)Launch ClockworkMod by pressing and holding pwr and vol + at startup until 2 text lines are displayed
(Note-
-use volume to navigate, home to enter, back to go back
-Backup device in clockworkmod First!!!)
3.) Wipe to Factory Default 2 times
4.) go to advanced
5.) wipe devorik cache 2 times
6.) go back
7.) Install update from sd card
8.) Select install from sd card
9.) Browse to rom, and select
10.) Repeat steps 8-10 a second time once first install completes
11.)Repeat steps 3-5
NOTE: There are many ways to recover from even the worst brick
-Power and Vol – at boot enable usb connection if clockworkmod is bad or magic error
-If external card cannot be read in clockworkmod then connect via usb and copy image down
-Make sure to go to back/restore and make a back as soon as clockworkmod is installed
-Can reset to back to backup point in clockworkmod
-can nvram back to factory if needed
- seems almost impossible to brick, this is an amazing device

I bought my G-tabet recently after seeing the price drop and was really disasppointed, until I found out how to install your ROM. I am actually going to keep this G-tablet now and show it off. Just bought the g tab. I installed vegan Ginger…….I have no idea how to “wipe” something or how to back something up. In other words, I got no flippin’ idea what I’m doing! I hate to sound like a preschooler, but could someone email me how to do the install, step by very little step?
I’m thinking about getting the gTablet and installing your ROM for my daughter (and me). Can you run ooVoo on this and does it work well? My daughter uses ooVoo.

I have been running vegan tab 7.0. We purchased 10 viewsonic g for our school system. They worked great with the rom. Problem I am having is now they all are updating to the new Market. Of course it continues to force close. I guess I would like to know if you are working on a fix or is it better to switch to a different rom. Thanks for your past work on 7.0. Just need the Market working if we are going to continue using it.

Change the language to English (United States)under settings and it fixed my issues with Force Closes.
My question: is it possible to run Windows Media Player? I cannot find an app.. I have my kids’ DRM movies and I cannot find a way to play them without it..if not, how can I dl and play movies on the plane? We are leaving 9/19..
If you want to run DRM movies download VLC player. This player will run almost anything
