IFYOU ARE COMING FROM ANOTHER ROM OTHER THAN VEGAn-TAB GE RC1 YOU MUST WIPE DATA!- Use Titanium Backup or similar to save app data. HOWEVER do NOT restore any system app data…. ie. Wireless Settings, CMParts Setting, etc.

If you are running into any major issues after updating from GE RC1 then I suggest backing up your data with Titanium Backup which you should already have done and then from Clockwork mod WIPE DATA…. something in your data is causing the issue more than likely…. so when you restore, restore each item separately till you find the culprit.

Install this using CWM. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT VERSION DOWNLOAD FOR THE BOOTLOADER YOU CURRENTLY HAVE. If you are coming from VEGAn-TAB GE RC1 then you are MOST likely on 1.1. Check with your current rom developer or developers post to see what bootloader you are on. FLASHING THE WRONG BOOTLOADER VERSION WILL SOFT BRICK YOUR DEVICE. You will need to then follow one of the many How-To’s available for NVFLASHING back to stock or similar.

The Google apps have already been applied. Market WILL NOT SHOW in app drawer until you CONNECT TO A WIRELESS NETWORK. ONLY THE APPS THAT YOU CAN’T GET FROM THE MARKET ARE INSTALLED. Stuff like GMAIL, MAPS, etc. need installed through market. This way you will easily stay up to date on those apps. The market WORKS if it doesn’t for you then

1^st try going into applications settings and selecting Market and “Force Stop” then “Clear Data” that’s it….. This allows the device to re-register itself to the the marketplace servers as an “official device” . DON’T do any of the OLD MARKET FIXES dealing with Framework Services etc. IF that fails you have probably restored something you shouldn’t data or app wise or not followed the directions correctly. I suggest backing up your data with Titanium Backup which you should already have done and then from Clockwork mod WIPE DATA…. something in your data is causing the issue more than likely…. so when you restore, restore each item separately till you find the culprit.

YOUTUBE APP v. 2.1.6 is preinstalled…. so far all updates to this available on the market currently break functionality with our Tablet and other devices…. DO NOT UPDATE FROM MARKET…. for now anyways.

It could take up to 5 minutes to boot the first time as it is building the dalvik database and cache. Partition issues with certain devices should be fixed now.

Installing any of the additional kernel modules:

find the following and download:

To use one of the kernel modules:
Pull the one you want from lib-2632.43_gb.tar.gz (winrar can open this),
adb remount
(if the folder modules doesn’t exist then first – adb shell mkdir /system/lib/modules)
adb push MODULE.ko /system/lib/modules/
adb shell chmod 644 /system/lib/modules/MODULE.ko
adb shell insmod /system/lib/modules/MODULE.ko

Note:
You can download gscript lite from the Market, and put the insmod line in there, and tap when you want to insert it and use its functionality. ie. insmod /system/lib/modules/cifs.ko

I know it has been a while since the last update.  Summer is a busy time, however I have seen some of the recent issues with the market on the latest version.  I am currently working on updating our ROM to the latest upstream patches as well as some of the fixes I had been working on before Summer Madness hit.    Keep an eye on the site this week.  Update is coming!

SINCE THIS IS A MAJOR RELEASE VERSION – NO MATTER THE ROM YOU ARE COMING FROM YOU MUST WIPE DATA! Use Titanium Backup or similar to save app data.  HOWEVER do NOT restore any system app data…. ie. Wireless Settings, CMParts Setting, etc.

After the first boot, and all the setup screens, PROMPTLY reboot the tablet to finish installation.

Install this using CWM 0.8 only at the moment.  Till we can figure out why some tablets have issues with newer CWM versions.

The Latest Flash player from the market now works. Latest google maps now works download from the market.  Internal Memory is mapped to SDCard and external SD Card is mapped to SDCard2.

I am going to work on a more specialized installation instructions set.  Installation is just like the experimentals through CWM wipe data/cache/dalvik… no exceptions.  It could take up to 5 minutes to boot the first time as it is building the dalvik database and cache.  Remember to reboot after first boot and setup screens to finish installation.

PS. a pic of the launcher so far. Notice the dockbar at the bottom and the lack of phone-like dockbar on the right side of the screen…. bottom dockbar is scrollable and drag/drop-able as well.  Pretty much anything you can put on the home screen screens except widgets can be placed on the dockbar.

So what has changed? A lot since the last build.

Merged up to 2.3.3 Gingerbread…. that was a chore had to rebase and rebuild my entire repo as something wasn’t jiving.

Merged in the TNT 3991 Libs…. the Ventana ones are not useful yet unfortunately.

Created a more tablet friendly lockscreen no more slide tabs on the side…. they are now on the bottom landscape wise as they should… and don’t look phone like any more.

Statusbar improvements:

• Battery Percent graphics
• Matching Wifi graphics
• Added some full color icons for the statusbar power widget the status bar itself
• Modified Statusbar Pulldown to better fit with theme (added a slight alpha to it and changed some elements to black)

Added in fake ril to help with Market Issues (ATM Phone stuff has to remain or it may break market)  But I removed all of their icons from the launcher…. so unless you actually go to Settings/Manage Applications you will not know they are there.

Changed the (no service) text to VEGAn-TAB so we are not constantly reminded that we don’t have phone parts….

Removed RomManager, PacMan(auto market installer) as they cause issues with other things.

And Lots more background things that you will not visibly notice.

The Latest Flash player from the market now works.  Latest google maps still doesn’t work (this is a screw up with maps on google’s part they coded one of the layout files wrong, there is a fix but I don’t want to do it because it screws with too many other things…. better to use the old maps version for the moment).  SDCard and internal memory are now handled like we are used too with the old VEGAn and TNT and several other Builds…. Internal Memory is mapped to SDCard and external SD Card is mapped to SDCard2.  With nothing else installed Quadrant consistently comes in at about 2100 and a 41.45fps on Nenamark so performance is pretty decent so far.

Hopefully I will move to BETA 1 fairly quickly… there are several “Features” I am trying to work out first though so it might be a week or so.
